Sociedade Central de Cervejas e Bebidas was founded in 1934 by four of the oldest and most prestigious Portuguese breweries, while the Sagres beer brand was born in 1940, as a prestige and exports beer specifically produced for the Portuguese World Exhibition held in May of that year.

 

Inaugurated in June 1968, the Vialonga Plant was then considered as the most modern beer brewery in Europe, and today it is the country’s largest of its kind in Portugal. With head office in Vialonga, SCC’s main business is the production and sale of beer and malt as well as the sale of bottled water and soft drinks. With two production units, Vialonga and Luso/Cruzeiro, it owns the Sagres and Luso brands and respective range of drinks. SCC’s beer portfolio also includes a considerable range of major international brands, like Heineken, Guinness, Fosters and Bud, as well as Schweppes’ soft drink range, which includes Joi. In June 1996, Central de Cervejas was the first Portuguese brewery to receive the Quality Certification ISO 9001 and in 2008 it obtained the Environmental Management Certification NP EN ISO 14001:2004.

Francois-Xavier Mahot joined HEINEKEN in 1999 as Managing Director of HEINEKEN JV Brasseries du Congo, remaining in this position until 2004. Between 2004 and 2011 he was CEO of both HEINEKEN Sirocco JV, in Dubai and Heineken Serbia, in the Republic of Serbia.
Over the last few years Francois-Xavier Mahot has held the post of Heineken’s Global Innovation Senior Manager, being responsible for promoting a strong innovation culture, facilitating idea generation. Thanks to his work, he was able to position the group as leader in Beer global innovation, increasing four times the Group’s annual innovation-generated income, thus boosting  the latter’s sustained growth.
Francois-Xavier Mahot’s career has been marked by a focus on results, with emphasis on the potential growth and development of markets and companies, always with the support of top performing teams.
Francois-Xavier Mahot is 46 and of French nationality. He has a Degree in Economics from École Supérieure de Commerce de Reims and an MBA in Marketing, from École Supérieure de Commerce de Bretagne.
